Headshot smallPrincipal of Seedscapes Landscape Design Studio, Erin Upton hails from the verdant hills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley.  Deeply influenced by the natural and agricultural landscapes of her childhood; Erin’s inspiration also grew from her years in vibrant urban environments and foreign cultures.

Erin holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Nonprofit Arts Management and a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture.  She spent over a decade living and working in culturally rich places and a diverse array of landscapes. These included the capital of French gastronomy, the urban estuary of NYC, the maritime west coast of Canada, and the ancient and engineered terrain of the Netherlands.

Erin worked as a Project Manager and Staff Designer in New York City for the award-winning firm Dirtworks Landscape Architecture.  The firm’s designs always emphasized a close connection to nature as an essential element to health and well being.  Erin’s clients included children’s hospitals, elder care communities, schools and college campuses.

Erin traded the concrete jungle of city life for a gravel road and woodland acreage in the heart of Oregon’s wine country.  Erin started her design studio to continue creating inviting, beautiful landscapes that connect people with the natural world.  Erin teaches landscape design courses locally and lectures to local organizations.  In addition to design, Erin’s other explorations include- ecological history, sustainable agriculture, wild food foraging, local wine, edible gardening, pollinators, biodiversity, native wildlife, hydrology, geology, living soils, forestry, rivers and bread baking.
